A series of fundamental terms and models were developed in process automation in the 80's which are still utilised implicitly as a reference today (e.g. the planarmodel, system model, process model, configuration model for control systems, models and taxonomies for describing control technology system services, function strukcturing models (CFC, SFC... etc.).

The objective of the working group is the examination and further development of these models, along with the identification of candidates for new reference structures.
