General Conditions for NAMUR Membership of Engineering/Scientific Societies, Associations and Institutions (below referred to as "Association")

Explanatory note

Pursuant to Art. 4 ("Membership") of NAMUR’s Statutes, not only companies of the process control industry may be ordinary members of NAMUR but also entities that pursue engineering or scientific objectives such as societies, associations, universities, etc.

Membership in NAMUR

Art. 2.1 of the Rules of Procedure reads: "Each legally independent enterprise shall require separate membership. Collective membership, e.g. via a holding company, shall not be admissible." This means that if a company is a member of the Association, this company will not automatically also be a member of NAMUR. This company will require separate membership, where this is possible under the Statutes. The Association’s office and its staff will therefore be members of NAMUR (this applies, for instance, to DECHEMA).
If the Association’s members are exclusively individuals, once again only the full-time staff of the Association’s office will be members of NAMUR, but not the many voluntary members of working groups or committees.
The current membership dues can be found here. (Membership dues are exempt from value added tax).

Participation in NAMUR’s Annual General Meeting

Art. 3.2 of the Rules of Procedure reads: "The Annual General Meeting shall be attended by member companies’ employees who work in the fields of electrical engineering, measurement and control systems, process control systems and in related departments".
In the case of an Association, this means that the staff of the Association’s office or persons who perform the Association’s activities on a full-time basis will be regarded as the Association’s employees. Hence, employees of member companies or voluntary members of working groups or committees do not qualify and may therefore not attend the Annual General Meeting.

NAMUR Recommendations and -Worksheets (NENA)

There are three options for receiving NAMUR’s Recommendations and -Worksheets:

1)   Individual licences
Individual licences are recommendable for individuals who need NAMUR Recommendations for themselves or within a
department and who will store the licences on their personal computers. An individual licence may be of interest for an
Association if a representative of the Association’s office needs to have an overview of NAMUR’s Recommendations.
The current license costs you can find here.

2)   Corporate licences
Corporate licences are recommendable for companies in which several departments need NAMUR Recommendations.
While each individual employee who wants to have access requires a separate password, the number of authorisations
is not limited. In addition, NAMUR Recommendations obtained under a corporate licence may also be made accessible
via a company’s internal Intranet. The current license costs you can find here.

3)   Group licences
Group licences are recommendable for corporate groups that want to give access to NAMUR’s Recommendations for
several legally independent companies, be they global operations or affiliated companies. The current license costs you
can find here.

Recommendation

In summary, the following course of action can be recommended to Associations:

Associations should apply for NAMUR membership. This will enable the office staff to participate in NAMUR’s Annual General
Meeting. On the registration form for the Annual General Meeting, Associations should enter their name under "Company".
