Work Area 3 "Field Devices"


Work Area 3 deals with measurement ("sensor technology" and "actuator technology").

Definition of operator specifications for field devices for the (further) development of field devices and measuring procedures
relating to
- quality, safety, availability, lifecycle costs;
- required functional scope;
- diagnosis and status signals;
- uniform device operation and configuration;
- installation and maintenance;
- linking to superordinate levels (cable/wireless);
Standardisation of devices, testing procedures and equipment
- Determination of specifications (e.g. for proven performance, NE’s to be adhered to);
- Market monitoring, evaluation of equipment and measuring procedures;
- Organisation and realisation of type testing;
Compilation and maintenance of NAMUR publications
Initiation of and involvement in national and international standardisation activities
Monitoring, interpretation, information and implementation support with regard to national and international standards, laws
and regulations
Experience exchange regarding measuring procedures and measuring equipment
Communication with test organisations, authorities
Representation of operator interests with respect to manufacturers
